Our Recommendations
- E-bikes are identified as a bicycle with an electric motor
- E-bikes are configured in an unlimited number of configurations for unlimited uses.
- E-bikes are classified as pedelecs (require pedaling) or motor-peds (use throttles).
- The most common pedelec version used on a trail typifies a conventional two-wheeled bicycle.
- Wherever a conventional bicycle is accepted, the common pedelec should be permitted.
- Federal and State DOTS do not attempt to regulate vehicle types on roads. For safety, they regulate by operator practice. Such practice should apply to trails.
- Likewise, vehicles on trails should be regulated limited by operator safety practice and not vehicle.
