Ebikes & Greenways Committee

Thanks for expressing your interest in ebikes in Nashville. And for those that have been volunteering, a special thanks to you!

I have a few updates to share as we get into 2022!

1. We are starting a Ebikes & Greenways Committee in 2022! First meeting is on Wednesday, Feb. 9th at 6pm via Zoom. Link to Zoom registration here. We are looking for a co-chair to lead the committee with Carey Rogers. Write to me and Carey if you are interested in chairing the committee and want to learn more about co-chairing it.

2. You should have been added to a Google Group that will allow everyone to email everyone on the list of people we have that are interested in ebikes. I wanted all of you to be able to communicate with each other! This list was previously maintained by me at Walk Bike Nashville.

3. We have learned that the ebikes on greenways "study" in complete but no one has seen a copy of it yet. (if you need more background about this "study" read this blog post). We'll be using our first "Ebikes & Greenways" committee meeting on 2/9 to plan our activities once we have a better understanding of what Metro Parks staff is recommending.  We also just heard that The Greenways and Open Space Commission will meet THIS WEDNESDAY, Jan. 26th, 11:30-1:00 in the Parks Board Room located at 2565 Park Plaza,  to discuss a draft of the ebikes on greenways study. If you can attend the meeting, Carey and I will be there too! If you have time to write some emails, please use the attached list of email addresses to email Commission members. Emails can be short, just share why riding an ebike is important to you!

Then, the Metro Parks Board will meet on February 1, 2022, for that Board to consider the ebike study and the Commission’s recommendations.  The Parks Board February agenda will be published on the Parks web site on Tuesday, January 25th.

I've attached a memo that went to Metro Council Members in Dec. with the "study" project's timeline. We'll dive into all these details at our committee meeting but don't hesitate to be in touch if you have questions.

Thanks for being involved in this topic and this issue! I hope to see you soon!
